03 / OUR APPROACH

Rooted in place.
Built together.

Himba House is developed with the community, from design and construction to guiding, storytelling and hospitality. The aim is to create paid work close to home and support cultural continuity.

A stay offers time for conversations, shared meals and evenings by the fire. Experiences unfold with the people who live here, at their pace.

How the project supports local families

Revenue returns to Himba families through paid work in construction, guiding, hospitality and long-term care of the site. The project’s purpose is to help keep income and knowledge rooted in the villages.

A thoughtful way to visit

Follow your hosts’ guidance, ask before taking photographs and make space for listening. Cultural exchange works best when it is respectful and reciprocal.
